It is even hotter this afternoon for the Junior Women's XC.  They will do a short start loop an then 3 laps of the 4.8 km course

Start loop

 

The Junior Women have started and as they exit the start loop and head out onto the course for the first of 3 full laps, Helen Grobert (Germany) has the lead followed by Jolanda Neff (Switzerland), Lisa Mitterbauer (Austria), Pauline Ferrand Prevot (France), Yana Belomoyna (Ukraine), Johanna Techt (Germany), Yue Bai (People's Republic Of China), and Candice Neethling (South Africa)

 

Lap 1

 

At the top of the gravel climb it is Candice Neethling (South Africa) leading with Pauline Ferrand Prevot (France) and Yue Bai (People's Republic Of China) leading.  Kristina Laforge  is the top Canadian

 

2:10 pm

At the rock garden:  It is Jolanda Neff (Switzerland) followed by Pauline Ferrand Prevot (France), Yana Belomoyna (Ukraine) and Yue Bai (People's Republic Of China)

 

Up the feedzone (first pass)  it is Jolanda Neff (Switzerland) leading Pauline Ferrand Prevot (France) by 15 sec.  Yana Belomoyna (Ukraine) is at 20 sec.   Johanna Techt (Germany), Yue Bai (People's Republic Of China) and Elise Marchal (Belgium) all together

 

Top Canadian is Andreane Lanthier-Nadeau (Canada) in 10th followed by Lauren Rosser (Canada)

Sofia Hamilton (United States Of America) has had a crash

 

2:20 pm

 

Through the feedzone for the second time Jolanda Neff (Switzerland) has widened her gap on Pauline Ferrand Prevot (France) to 30 sec.  Yana Belomoyna (Ukraine) is at 1 min

Andreane Lanthier-Nadeau (Canada) is 10th, Lauren Rosser (Canada) 12th,

 

 

Through the Rock Garden  (aka Beatrice) it is Jolanda Neff (Switzerland) leading Pauline Ferrand Prevot (France) by 50 sec.  Yana Belomoyna (Ukraine) is 3rd at 1:25, Johanna Techt (Germany) 4th at 2:20

2:30 pm

Andreane Lanthier-Nadeau (Canada)  crashed at the top of the rock garden and has now dropped back, but us still top Canadian

Lauren Rosser (Canada) is 2nd top Canadian in 13th and easily cleared the rock garden

Laura Bietola (Canada) is 17th

 

Lap 2

 

Jolanda Neff (Switzerland) starts the 2nd lap with a gap of  39 sec on Pauline Ferrand Prevot (France) Yana Belomoyna (Ukraine) 3rd at 55 sec  . 

Andreane Lanthier-Nadeau (Canada) is 10th at over 3 min back

Lauren Rosser (Canada) is 13th  5 min back

Valerie Meunier (Canada)  19th

Kristina Laforge (Canada)  20th

Cayley Brooks (Canada)  24th

 

Laura Bietola (Canada) will likely drop out at the end of the lap. She is visibly suffering in the heat and showing signs of heat stroke

 

The heat is really affecting a lot of the riders.  They are pushing their bikes on the climb and starting to show signs of heat stroke

Just before the rock garden (~ 3 km into the lap)

Jolanda Neff (Switzerland) has disappeared.  Pauline Ferrand Prevot (France) is now leading followed by Yana Belomoyna (Ukraine).  Helen Grobert (Germany) is 8th at over 2 min.  Elise Marchal (Belgium) is 5th, Yue Bai (People's Republic Of China) 6th

Andreane Lanthier-Nadeau  is still top Canadian in 10th but Lauren Rosser is 11th and riding well

 

2:54 pm

 

Lauren Rosser is now taken the 10thn spot having passed Lanthier-Nadeau

Barton Essence (United States Of America) is 11th

 

2:55 pm

2nd place Yana Belomoyna (Ukraine) has flatted and has been passed by Helen Grobert (Germany).  Belomoyna is now in 3rd by 10 sec

 

Last lap

As they start the final lap , Pauline Ferrand Prevot (France) is leading with Helen Grobert (Germany) 2nd  at 2:11. Yana Belomoyna (Ukraine) in 3rd at 2:16, Elise Marchal (Belgium) 4th at 2:44, Yue Bai (People's Republic Of China) 5th

 

Lauren Rosser (Canada) is now 8th

Andreane Lanthier-Nadeau (Canada)  10th

Valerie Meunier (Canada)  16th

Kristina Laforge (Canada)  20th

Cayley Brooks (Canada)  21st

Emily Fisher (Canada)  DNF
