September 13/10 12:04 pm - Sears National Kids Cancer Ride Seeking Participants in Maritimes

Posted by Editoress on 09/13/10

The Sears National Kids Cancer Ride is one of the world’s longest charitable cycling events on behalf of childhood cancer. Organized and managed by the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation our mission is to improve the quality of life for children and their families living with and beyond childhood cancer across Canada.  Funds raised are directed towards pediatric oncology research, survivorship and support programs, and 100% of donations raised are directed to the charities we support. In the last three years we have raised $4 million, and donated the largest amount ever for pediatric oncology research in Canada, as well as supporting all 17 pediatric oncology centres across Canada, including IWK in Halifax.

This year’s event kicked off in Vancouver on September 9th, and arrives in Halifax (Point Pleasant Park) on Thursday, September 23rd at noon where a large crowd of local supporters, family and press will gather to welcome the 7,000 km journey of our National Riders, who will be brought in by police escort.

We are looking for individuals who are interested in participating when the ride comes through the Maritime Provinces.

Anyone interested in participating contact Jane Beeton, Halifax Coordinator
