As part of team SpiderTech powered by Planet Energy’s ongoing mission of becoming Canada's first professional Pro Tour cycling team to participate in the Tour de France, Cycle Sport Management announces that they are launching a national junior program. This will ensure the identification and development of Canada's finest upcoming athletes aged 16 to 18. Each program will be endorsed by Steve Bauer, Sport Director at Spidertech, and will have a specific race schedule. Jointly, all development programs will complete specific projects throughout the year. “For SpiderTech, this initiative is fundamental to the development of Canadian racers. We are thrilled to team up with these initiatives” said Bauer. From each development program, the most talented junior athletes will be selected to compete internationally on targeted projects with the SpiderTech powered by Saputo junior national trade team.
The Quebec junior development program will be powered by Powerwatts. Directed by Claude Pinard and Francois Cossette, the Quebec junior program will be named Spidertech Powered by Powerwatts. It will be comprised of a minimum of 8 cyclists and will focus the majority of its racing and training program on road and track events. “Our objective consists of developing athletes on the track and on the road. We are evaluating the possibility of organizing road and track training camps in the USA and in Western Canada”, announced Claude and Francois.
They also added that Chris Rozdilsky will be acting as the team’s Sport Director. Chris holds a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and has an extensive background in sports medicine and strength and conditioning. Chris has been working in the Sport Science field for over 10 years and has worked with some of the top minds in the industry as well as coached many Elite level athletes in a multitude of sport disciplines. “We will work with a global vision for our program while offering cyclists the support of many professionals (e.g. physiologists, various sport directors etc). Furthermore, we will also ensure that there is a lot of team work and cooperation between personal coaches/trainers and our athletes. Our team will be more than just a cycling team, it will be an integrated sports program”, said Chris.
“Chris brings extensive experience to the cyclists and will coordinate the technical aspect of the team”, added Claude and Francois. Moreover, as a first in Quebec, several acting sport directors will be invited to join the team for specific projects under Chris’ supervision.
Details relating to the Ontario team and Western Canada team will be forthcoming.
