Substance Projects, the people who brought you a race through a barn, soy and corn fields, up a creek, and through crazy storms, is proud to bring you a fun way to relax and race this fall: The Mansfield Mountain Bike Rally.
If you really want to ride with people but are afraid of all that 32 mm tire cyclocross stuff, and don't want to go hard for a whole hour, then come on out to the Mansfield Outdoor Centre on October 3rd.
This isn't the longest stage race, the hardest race, the most vertical in a race, the biggest race or even the weirdest race. But it will be fun.
Merging rally racing with mountain biking, there will be three timed stages from one to five kilometres in the morning with two connector (non-timed) stages. Then back to the "service area" to make adjustments for the afternoon stages. And since everyone is hanging around, we will have a little BBQ and the Intergalactic Longest Skid Championships (first place is a new tube and whatever old tire is kicking around Markham Cyclepath that week).
Then it's back out to the woods for more rally inspired fun with three more timed afternoon stages.
Part race, part group ride, all fun. XC geeks, DH rock stars, free riders and people who have no idea what they are doing but want to have fun are all invited.
Pre-Registration fee is $35 and a donation to the Daily Bread Foodbank if you can.
Since it is October it only seems appropriate to add a best costume contest.
