The Ontario Cycling Association is pleased to announce a partnership with the Canadian Sport Centre, Ontario (CSCO) which will provide a unique program designed to enhance the development of athletes who have been identified as being capable of achieving international success.

This program has been developed in cooperation with the CSCO and under the direction of the Ontario Cycling Association, with the intention of establishing a clear pathway from Provincial programming to the National Team and International success.

As an integral component to the success of this program, Ontario Cycling is also pleased to announce that Brendan Arnold will be assuming the role of OHPSI Head Coach. Brendan will work with the identified athletes and their coaches by lending support for their individual training plans and monitoring their progress throughout the year. An important element of each training plan will be a focus on providing integrated support services, which will be made available through the CSCO.

The funds provided will support athletes travel, IST (Integrated Support Team) support and opportunities for updates in equipment. IST support will be coordinated and designed in conjunction with the CSCO, Brendan Arnold and individual coaches as it pertains to the athlete’s needs, training programs and competition schedules.

The Ontario Cycling Association would like to thank the Canadian Sport Centre, Ontario and the Ministry of Health Promotion for providing the funds and incentive for this initiative.

The Ontario Cycling Association will publish a list of athletes that are targeted in the OHPSI initiative. This list has been validated by the Canadian Cycling Association and will support athletes that have 2015 Pan Am and 2012/16 Olympic potential.

The recently created position of National Women’s Development coach will compliment the OHSPI position; both of these positions are supported by the Canadian Sport Centre Ontario.
