The UCI announces that the Disciplinary Commission has decided to fine the Manager of the Team RadioShack Johan Bruyneel 10,000 Swiss Francs (CHF), the team's Sporting Directors present at the 2010 Tour de France 5,000 CHF, and the riders at the French race 2,500 CHF. In addition, Mr Bruyneel has been suspended for two months, from 1st February to 31st March 2011.
The riders of the RadioShack team infringed article 12.1.004 of the UCI Regulations during the last stage of the Tour de France 2010, related to the wearing of a non-authorised jersey. In addition, Mr J. Bruyneel publicly offended the UCI International Commissaires with his declarations.
The UCI Disciplinary Commission has also suspended Mr Carlos Barredo (Quick Step) for two months, from 1st January to 28th February 2011. Mr C. Barredo infringed article 12.1.005 of the UCI Regulations (blemishing of the image, the reputation or the interests of cycling and the UCI) during the 2010 Tour de France.
Barredo assaulted Rui Costa (Caisse d'Epargne) with a bike wheel after a 2010 Tour de France stage, in retaliation to being elbowed. A video of the incident can be seen Here.
