On May 22nd, Canada will get its first 100-mile (160 kilometre) mountain bike race: Victoria's 100. Starting at 7:00 am, riders will complete two laps of a challenging and fun course through some of Southern Ontario's best trails. For full race details and registration information, check out www.substanceprojects.com or www.facebook.com/victorias100.

Mansfield Outdoor Centre has hosted 24-hour, 8-hour, Marathon and Ontario Cup XC racing over the years and is hosting the start/finish line for this epic 100-mile journey. The course winds through single track and double track, covering four properties in two counties, all with less than one kilometre of gravel road. The design focuses on keeping things fast and fun, while highlighting the great trails in the region. Victoria's 100 will attract some of the top endurance racers, while also offering everyone an attainable challenge with just the right amount of adversity and effort. Come test yourself.

The course has a few short steep climbs, for a total of 750m climbing per lap, and boasts many features of the acclaimed 2010 Ontario MTB Marathon Championship track. All feed zones will be stocked with water and Hammer Nutrition Products. As well, each feed zone will offer a floor pump, allen keys, tire levers and a small box of 26" and 29" tubes to keep you on the trail, supplied by Norco Bikes, and Finish Line Lubes to keep your bike running smooth. Seven feed zones will be spread evenly along the course.

For those who want to participate in this great weekend of riding but don't want to push for the full 100-mile distance we have added a few options. On Sunday, May 22nd, choose between an 80 kilometre MTB Marathon and a 4x40 kilometre MTB Relay for you and up to three of your favourite riding buddies. On Saturday, May 21st, there will be a 10 kilometre and a 20 kilometre event, for those who want to get a taste for the trails or who just want to get out and ride on this historic weekend.

Come rain or shine the sandy trails will be ready. We have a lot of trail maintenance days scheduled before May 22nd, and anyone who wants to get involved is welcome to join us. A portion of the event's proceeds will go to support the great work being done by IMBA Canada. Consider joining today!
