Vote Canadian
Okay, this request from Chris Gagan of Race Face isn‚t exactly cycling-related, but we thought that it nicely encompassed the Canadian vs American contest.
An epic struggle has erupted; quietly, but with brute force... A contest is being staged by the Frank J.Zamboni Co. to pick a winner who will resurface the ice at this year's NHL All Star Game (being held at the Air Canada Center). 2 serious contenders have emerged into what is now amounting to a battle of good vs. evil, or rather Canada vs. the U.S.
The choice of the American voters is Al Sobotka, the guy that works at the Joe Louis Arena. Canada's hopes rest on the shoulders of one Jim 'Iceman' MacNeil, who has been resurfacing at the Brantford Civic Center for the past ~25 years.
Current Standings:
Al Sobotka 206,267
Jimmy 'Iceman' MacNeil 142,041
The contest began a few weeks ago, and Jim held a massive lead, thanks largely to word-of-mouth in the Brantford area - an area with a population of <100,000 people. Then, Detroit found out. Metro Detroit, with its millions of people, has been inundated with radio, TV, and newspaper ads urging for the voting of Al - he's now leading by 64,000 votes. It's now up to you, Canada. Your vote matters - as Princess Leia said,"this is our most desperate hour"... You can cast your vote at http://www.zamboni.com. Please pass this message on to as many others as you can think of - we must rally support.
