SpiderTech p/b C10 Team Director, Kevin Field discusses today's race, the UCI 1.1 Paris-Camembert:

We expected this race to be one of the toughest one day races we would do in France. Paris-Camembert has a rich history, it is important for the French teams, it is part of the Coupe de France and, finally, the finishing circuits in Vimoutiers are packed full of tough hills.

Historically, this race is always won by moves that happen on the final circuits around Vimoutiers. For this reason we shifted our plans a bit and decided to gamble on not being overly concerned with putting a rider in the early breakaway, nor being overly active in the first 115 kilometres enroute to Vimoutiers. Once we entered the final circuits we wanted to have as many riders still in the main group as possible and from that point on we wanted our guys to be aggressive and active.

However, we were more interested in looking for breakaway opportunities in the transitions between the eight climbs that would feature in the final 80 kilometres of racing. We wanted to 'get ahead of the action', in hopes the winning move would come up to our riders.

A breakaway of three riders escaped early into the race. The teams represented were Big Mat, VC La Pomme and TopSport Vlaanderen. This was a great situation for the team. SpiderTech riders were well placed entering the circuits around Vimoutiers, with all eight riders in the main group. The attacking began on the first climb of Canapville before Vimoutiers. Roth, Randell, Routley, Langlois and Euser were all active in the final. The team rode well together, however we were not able to mark the winning move of  Sandy Casar (Fra) FDJ, Romain Hardy (Fra) Bretagne - Schuller, Julien Antomarchi (Fra) Velo-Club La Pomme Marseille, Maxime Mederel (Fra) Big Mat - Auber93 and  Pierrick Fedrigo (Fra) FDJ.

In the final bunch sprint we had four riders: Langlois, Euser, Roth and Routley. Lucas Euser had a terrible crash, he came away unhurt, but it disrupted the positioning for our guys in the final kick to the line.
