Stage four of the Giro was not contested, with the 216 kilometre route between Genova and Livorno ridden as a memorial to Leopard-Trek's Wouter Weylandt, who tragically died yesterday after a crash. After a minute of silence and tributes at the start line, the peloton rode together for the stage, with Weylandt's Leopard-Trek team mates and his friend Tyler Farrar of Garmin-Cervelo leading the field for the final kilometres to the finish line.
