To All Mountainbike Clubs & Riders



I regret to advise that the Tassie MTB Classic (XC Rd 5) to have been staged in Hobart on 5/6 February 2000, has been withdrawn from the 2000 AMBA Cup Series.

The event was proposed to have been conducted as a joint AMBA/MTBA competition. However, this scenario would have presented significant difficulties in terms of public liability and other insurance issues. Accordingly, Cycling Australia and the AMBA Commission were not prepared to expose the competitors and promoters to the potential risks involved.

We apologise to members for any inconvenience that may have been caused by this cancellation. We remain hopeful of including Tasmanian events in future national series.
