Mt Snow Cancelled

It is unofficial, but we have received confirmation that the Mt Snow, Vermont World Cup (July 1/2) has been cancelled. The UCI instituted new requirements for organizers, and Mt Snow decided that they would have financial difficulty meeting the requirements. It looks like Mt Snow triple World Cup (XC, DH and DL) will be split up, with Mont Ste Anne getting the cross-country to go with their Downhill/Dual event. This is unofficial, but the UCI is supposed to confirm in the next few days.

There are other ramifications to the calendar change. Apparently Mt Snow and Norba are looking into modifying the Norba National Series calendar (to fill the gap in the U.S. calendar caused by the disappearance of the World Cup). This opens up the possibility that Mont Tremblant will no longer have a conflict with a Norba race.


Industry Loses Ted Way

Canadian cycle industry legend Ted Way has died. Norco has sent us the following release:

It is with great regret that we inform you of the loss of our valued friend and co-worker, Ted Way, who passed away on January 16, 2000.

Ted was a pioneer in the bicycle industry and one of it‚s most recognizable faces. He was famous for his salesmanship, innovation, and limitless energy. His dynamic personality, zest for life, and contribution to Norco for the past 28 years will never be replaced.

Our thoughts are with his family, his wife Judy, daughter Sheena, and son Shaun at this time.

National coach Steve Lund is the proud new father of a LARGE baby boy! He was born in the early hours of Sat (the 15th). His wife, Miguel, delivered a 10lb 4oz baby, named Conner. Congrats to Steve and Miguel!
