A North American day with many more to come....

A prologue of 9,2 kms with a steep climb at the start, then a few rolling hills for about 3 kms. The last 4 kms consisting of a fairly flat terrain with a nice head wind portion to finish.

A good ride for team Canada was Mark Walters who technically negotiated the course to perfection finishing 20seconds off of Floyd Landis of Mercury. For the rest of team Canada (Anand, Kelly, Wedge, Beauchamp & Wohlberg) all were relegated to a minute back on the race leader. A surprise however was Eric Wohlberg's TT . For the second time in so many years Eric did not manage to ride to his full time trialling potential. Although one minute off may not be the worst thing that could happen over a 10 day stage race it's nonetheless good for the morale.

So with 6 North Americans in the top ten positions, this race will be a very interesting one to watch and follow.

Tomorrow: A 173 kms stage. 130 kms of flat terrain with possible unfavourable wind conditions. The last 40kms will be equipped with two cat1 climbs of 5 kms each. Talk about a rude awakening!!!!

Haro signs World Champion Michael Rasmussen
