This weekend's World Cup in Nove Mesto na Morave, Czech Republic has been very well organized, with the course receiving strong reviews.  Unfortunately, it has been marred slightly by the theft of Subaru-Trek rider Sam Schultz's bike, plus a few other incidents.

Schultz had his Trek Super Fly prototype full suspension bike stolen out of his room while he was actually in the shower.  The bike had a prototype RockShox rear shock fitted.  So, for this weekend, Schultz will have to ride his hardtail.  The team hopes to have a new Super Fly frame for him before the Worlds.

One of the team mechanics also reported that he was shaken down by some of the local constabulary.  He was flagged down and they told him he had driven through a roundabout 'too fast', and demanded a fine of 600 Euros (approximately $845 Cdn) on the spot.  It was eventually negotiated down to 200 Euros...

To be fair, bike thefts happen in all sorts of places - including in Canada at the 1992 Worlds in Bromont, when whole truckloads of equipment were absconded.
