Quebec cycling fans will be among the first in North America to see the future of cycling equipment and accessories at ExpoCycle 2011.

For the first time in the 12-year history as a tradeshow - closed to the general public - Canada's premier bike show ExpoCycle will open its doors to consumers on Saturday, September 10th at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal, giving them a preview of next year's hottest products.

"For one day, exclusively at ExpoCycle, Canadian cycling enthusiasts can get a sneak peek at the 2012 bikes and gear that they'll find in their favourite bike shops next year," said Janet O'Connell, Executive Director of the Bicycle Trade Association of Canada. "Some of the most innovative and exciting names in the industry will be on hand, revealing the future directions of their brands. And, for the first time ever, we can share it all with the Canadian public."

Visitors to the ExpoCycle 2011 Public Day will have unprecedented access to more than 2,000 new products from over 800 brands. Manufacturers and distributors, large and small, from around the world, will showcase the very latest in bike industry design and technology, discussing recent additions, alterations and modifications to their product lines. Attendees will have access to expert information and advice, and may even be able to share their passion for the sport with some of the best cyclists in the world.

"The fact that some of the top riders on the Union Cycliste Internationale's ProTour will be in the city for the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal is an added bonus," said O'Connell. "Cycling fans can see some of the best gear and best riders in the same weekend."

The UCI WorldTour stops in Montreal on Sunday, September 11th, the day after the ExpoCycle Consumer Day. Now in its second year on the UCI WorldTour schedule, the Grand Prix Cycliste WorldTour brings the world's cycling elite to Canada, starting with a race in Quebec City on Friday, September 9th and then heading to Montréal. These races provide a rare chance for North American riders, who have become key team members at the top of the world cycling hierarchy, to compete on their own continent.

ExpoCycle 2011 Public Day provides Canadian cycling fans with a one-day chance to combine their love of gear with their passion for cycling performance. ExpoCycle will continue from September 11th to 13th, but will be restricted to industry members only.

ExpoCycle 2011 will open to the public Saturday, September 10th from 10 am to 6 pm. Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for kids 6-12, or a Family pass for $25, and are only available at the event. For more information go to www.expocycle.ca.
