Team Announcements
Team Procter & Gamble Women's Health announces its roster for the 2000 Season. Returning as members of the team are co-founders Kori Kelly and Kerry Hellmuth, both of Boulder, CO. New additions to the team include Canadian Heather Cole, returning to North America after turning heads in the European racing scene, veteran racer Cheryl Binney of San Francisco, renowned collegiate power Mina Pizzini of Philadephia, and sprinter Ashley McCullough of Kingsfield, California.
Joining Hellmuth and Kelly on this year's team is Heather Cole of Ontario, Canada. Cole raced most of '98 and '99 in Europe and as a member of the Canadian National Team. In 1999 she won the Fleche Gascon Midi Pyrenees and placed in the top 20 in 7 stages of the Grande Boucle Feminine (Women's Tour de France). For Cole the team offers an opportunity to bring her hard earned experience back home: "After three seasons of racing in Europe, I find myself wanting to ride for a team in North America, as I feel my experience can be a valuable asset".
For the 4th year in succession, ELITA Lingerie of Montreal QC., is proud to underline its support of the ELITA Professional Women‚s Cycling Team. For 2000, Team ELITA has been reinforced with the addition of multiple US National and 1999 PAN American Champion Karen Dunne, of Colorado Springs CO. Most known for her tremendous finishing sprint, Karen‚s race savvy and sheer tenacity will enhance Team ELITA‚s presence in critical events such as the First Union Liberty Classic and the entire Saturn US Pro Tour. As of January 1st 2000, Karen was one of 4 American women long listed for the Sydney Games.
Leading the team for their 3rd and 4th seasons respectively will be Canadian‚s Kim Davidge and Annie Gariepy. Kim will be returning to Team ELITA as captain for the 3rd consecutive year, and has recently married. Team ELITA is pleased to welcome back Canadians Sophie St Jacques, Melanie Dorion and Cybil DiGuisitini. Returning to the team for their 2nd year are ELITA‚s track stars who also see double duty on the road. New Zealand Olympian Sarah Ulmer and Canadian National Champion Erin Carter will seek international results on the road and track as they chase after World Cup Pursuit wins.
