At a ceremony sparsely attended because many local cycling advocates were busy rallying at City Hall against proposed service cuts, Wiedman Communications was awarded the City of Toronto's 2011 "Best Overall" Bicycle Friendly Business Award.
"As was repeated by many at the award ceremony Monday," says Donald Wiedman, "these days, when cyclists are being portrayed so negatively by local media and many politicians, it's great to get together and celebrate all the positive work going on across the city."
Donald is a freelance public relations specialist, and the man behind the BikesandTransit.com website, Twitter account and travel blog. Wiedman Communications also supports Bikes for Cuba's social marketing efforts to send racing bikes to Cuba with Canadian tourists.
Donald has lent his media relations expertise as well to Bikes Without Borders, the Toronto Bike Messengers Association, and one of the Toronto Cyclists Union's top ward advocacy groups; Ward 29 Bikes.
