Canadian Cyclist has just learned that Canadian riders David Veilleux and Tory Nyhaug have pulled out of the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, scheduled to start competition tomorrow. Veilleux was listed for the men's road race and Nyhaug for the men's BMX. (See original team with events list)
Veilleux has just completed a long season on the European WorldTour circuit with his Europcar team and is pulling out because he is burnt out. Nyhaug is withdrawing because the Pan Am race does not fit his program. The Pan Am Games does not offer any UCI points for cycling events, so he is focussing his training efforts for the more critical World Cup and other international events.
The Canadian team has also determined which riders will represent Canada on the track in the Omnium. For the women it will be Stephanie Roorda and for the men Jacob Schwingboth.
