This coming week is Bike To Work Week in Toronto. Tomorrow (Monday) is the Mass Convergence Ride. The Mass Ride begins at 7:30 am from three locations - 3083 Yonge St at Lawrence Ave, East Lynn Park at Danforth Ave., and the entrance to High Park on Bloor St W. The rides converge at Bloor and Yonge at 8:00 am, and all the riders will continue to Nathan Phillips Square (City Hall) for a free pancake breakfast. On Wednesday, the Glow in the Dark Ride takes place. The 25 km after dark ride through city streets starts at 7 pm at Toronto City Hall - make sure you bring lights (there are prizes for the best lights).

Those readers based in southwestern Ontario are probably familiar with the approximately 20 km section of the 403 highway between Ancaster and Brantford that is incomplete. Various provincial governments have been promising to complete it for the last decade, and it looks like it will finally happen by this Fall. So what does all this have to do with cycling, you ask? Well, at this point the work is about done, and there is a beautifully paved, four lane...bikepath, just begging to be ridden. It can be accessed at either Shaver Road in Ancaster, or on the outskirts of Brantfords east end (where the 403 ends). If you are going to ride it, be sure to do so AFTER working hours, or on the weekend.

We just spoke with the Race Director for Canada Cup #1, scheduled for next weekend at Boler Mountain in London, Ontario. They have finished cutting the course (approximately 10 km), and the R.D. (who happens to be our Tech Editor) says that riders should be very pleased with the course this year. Registration is open at the race site Wednesday to Friday from noon to 5:00 pm each day. You can download directions and race info by clicking on the Canada Cup icon on our homepage.
