The Quebec Cycling Federation (FQSC) has restructured some of its sectors. The BMX, cyclocross and mountain biking disciplines are now gathered under the name Off-Road. The new division will be led by Bruno Vachon, who, as of today, becomes Technical Director Off-Road.

Although different, these disciplines have many similarities, including the fact that they take place in a context and environment "off road". The combination of these three disciplines seemed only natural. In addition to benefiting practitioners, this reorganization will have a positive impact on the management of activities in this sector.

"This restructuring will establish closer links between the different cycling disciplines and to create more synergy in terms of tenure, and increase our effectiveness while providing an improved quality of service to our members," said CEO Louis Barbeau.

Vachon, who assumes the burden of this new area can only agree. "The new structure should maximize staff time. In the same period, we can cover more than one file. It gives more room for the team, which will undoubtedly help us refine the product. It's motivating!" said Bruno Vachon.

"In the context of this restructuring, Bruno, who comes from mountain bike and already held the post of technical director BMX and Cyclo-cross, became the logical candidate to assume the technical direction of the off-road sector. He obviously will not do the job alone. He will be assisted by a coordinator of BMX and mountain biking, as well as an administrative assistant and an seasonal sports assistant," said Louis Barbeau.

"I got hooked on mountain biking 15 years ago. In fact, it is through this discipline that I have come to be interested in others. So I am delighted with the idea of adding to my tasks the technical component of mountain biking," added Vachon.

"The year 2012 will be a course of transition. It will require a small adjustment period but, at the end of the line, it will benefit everyone. The season will probably be a little harder than usual, but I'm confident it will resolve quickly," Vachon said.
