The UCI advised Brazilian riders Tiago Damasceno and Flavio Reblin, Chilean rider Manuel Villalobos and Brazilian rider Wagner Alves that they are provisionally suspended. The decisions to provisionally suspend these riders were made in response to reports from the WADA accredited laboratory in Montreal indicating Adverse Analytical Findings of Stanozolol metabolites in urine samples these riders provided at tests during the Tour of Rio and Volta Ciclistica Do Sao Paulo on 28 and 29 July and on 17 and 20 October 2011 respectively.

The UCI also advised Brazilian rider Elton Silva that he is provisionally suspended. The decision to provisionally suspend this rider was made in response to a report from the WADA accredited laboratory in Montreal indicating Adverse Analytical Findings of mephentermine and its metabolite as well as phentermine in a urine sample the rider provided at a test during the Volta Ciclistica do Sao Paulo on 23 October 2011.

Furthermore, the UCI advised Peruvian rider Ronald Luza and Bolivian rider Fernando Espindola that they are provisionally suspended. The decisions to provisionally suspend these riders were made in response to reports from the WADA accredited laboratory in Bogota indicating Adverse Analytical Findings (cocaine metabolites and presence of 19-norandrosterone as well as Boldenone PC and metabolite) in urine samples these riders provided at tests during the Vuelta a Bolivia on 10 and 12 November 2011 respectively.

The provisional suspensions of the riders remain in force until a hearing panel convened by their respective National Federations determines whether they have committed an anti-doping rule violation under Article 21 of the UCI Anti-Doping Rules.

The riders have the right to request and attend the analysis of their B sample. Under the World Anti-Doping Code and the UCI Anti-Doping Rules, the UCI is unable to provide any additional information at this time.
