The Ontario Cycling Association is pleased to announce the 2012 O-Cup Downhill Preliminary Schedule. The schedule has some great additions to the series, acknowledging that the downhill membership wanted something new for this season. The O-cup series has a brand new organizer for 2012 who is committed to making the 2012 season something that exceeds Ontario downhill racer’s expectations.
The start of the season is going to kick off at a familiar place - Horseshoe Resort. Situated on a brand new side of the mountain, this should offer riders a fresh experience with the resort as a backdrop. Sir Sam’s, the second event of the series, will provide good racing and camping. The venue host is encouraging us get creative with the mountain; a blank canvas to work with on the hill is sure to result in a great course.
One month later we are going to Ontario’s biggest vertical drop, Blue Mountain. This venue will satisfy everyone simply due to its sheer size in comparison to other Ontario venues. Twinned with series organizer Jon’s team of experienced trail builders, this stop in the series is sure to be a hit.
With the aim of changing things up for 2012, Jon decided to hold the Provincial Championships at Camp Fortune. Being a fan favourite, this venue will truly be a great draw in the search for this year’s provincial champion.
The last race of the season, which not listed on the calendar will be on the last weekend of September and will provide a more relaxed and casual atmosphere. As everyone comes back together at Sir Sam’s, the focus will be on having a good time as a season send off.
