A Missing Canadian
We inadvertently left out a Canadian rider from our results for the Redlands Classic - Nicole Gingles. In our defence, she was listed as an American (as were a number of other Canadian riders), and we didn't catch it. Nicole, who rides for 800.com, finished 40th overall, 17:33 down.
Craig Demars sent in a brief précis of Nicloe's career:
She is from Canmore, Alberta but is currently residing in Eugene,OR - still a Canadian citizen. She raced for Safeway/Saturn, a local NW team last year. She won the state championships last year, the 2nd time in 3 years. She was 11th in the Canadian National ITT last year and 10th in the crit (dropped out of the rode race). Also has placed well in Tour of Willamette, her best a 13th, I think, 3 years ago. This year, she will be doing most of the U.S. national circuit, H-P (for the 2nd time), and Canadian nationals again.
Mississauga Midweek Series
(courtesy Peter McCaffery)
Have just signed contract with La Bicicletta for sponsorship of both the Monday and Tuesday events for the next three years. The races will be called: "La Bicicletta Novice Series" and "La Bicicletta Midweek Criterium Series". Format and times will be the same as last year except that the criteriums will move to Tuesday nights. The location will probably be the same but may change. I'll keep you posted on this. First events will be Monday 18th. and Tuesday 19th. of April.
Happy Birthday To...
National road team member Charles Dionne (today) and mountain bike pro Chrissy Redden (tomorrow).
