On August 26th, Victoria’s 100 will return to Canada. Starting at 7:00 am, riders will complete two laps of a re-worked course through some of Southern Ontario’s best trails. For full race details and registration information, check out www.victorias100.com or www.facebook.com/victorias100.
In addition to riding some of the best trails in Southern Ontario, you can also sign up to fundraise for Nellie’s Women’s Shelter this year! Nellie’s Women’s Shelter is located in Toronto and serves over 700 women annually through their shelter and community support and outreach programs. Women who come to Nellie’s are fleeing situations of violence, poverty, and homelessness, often with their children in tow. Every year Nellie’s relies heavily on the goodwill of the community through fundraising donations in order to maintain their programs and services to help women and kids. Riders who fundraise may be eligible to have their race entry fee waived.
Mansfield Outdoor Centre has hosted 24-hour, 8-hour, Marathon and Ontario Cup XC racing over the years and is hosting the start/finish line for this epic 100-mile journey. The course winds through single track and double track, covering four properties in two counties, all with less than one kilometre of gravel road. The design focuses on keeping things fast and fun, while highlighting the great trails in the region. The hike-a-bike sections from 2011 are gone, replaced by fast flowing single track. The soft sandy double track of 2011 is also gone, in its place will be more single track to keep speeds up.
Team Relay
For those who want to participate in this great weekend of riding but don’t want to push for the full 100-mile distance we have a few options. Choose between an 80 kilometre MTB Marathon and a 4x40 kilometre MTB Relay for you and up to three of your favourite riding buddies. On Saturday, August 25th, there will be 10 kilometre and a 20 kilometre support events, which will also be a great way to get a sense of the trails and how the course is marked.
WARBC
The World Adult Run-Bike Championships will be contested on Saturday evening. No need to bring a run bike, as they will be provided. All proceeds go directly to Nellie’s Women’s shelter, so come for fun and for a good cause! Only $2 per lap.
