Race organizers have announced the first 11 teams selected to be at the starting line of the inaugural Exergy Tour, taking place May 24-28 in Idaho. A world-class field of ladies professional cycling teams has accepted the coveted invitation to race over 200 miles across Southwestern Idaho, in the only UCI 2.1 designated race for ladies in North America this year.
“There is a lot of positive energy around women’s cycling right now with big companies getting involved. We are fortunate to have Specialized and lululemon displaying so much enthusiasm for the sport and it’s fantastic to see Exergy Development Group putting their faith in women’s cycling with a new race on the calendar. It’s exactly what the sport needs right now,” said Kristy Scrymgeour, Specialized-lululemon Team Owner.
Teams will travel to Idaho from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Italy, and across the United States to compete in the inaugural Exergy Tour.
“With a field comprised of several former, current and future National, World and Olympic Champions, we expect the competition level to rival the classic European races and to set a new standard for the highest level of ladies professional bike racing in North America,” said Heather Hill, Marketing, Communications and Events director. “The Exergy Tour will also be an opportunity for many young, up and coming riders to work with their teammates and prove themselves against the best in the world.”
