March 22/12 10:05 am - 2012 Trek Dirt Series Starts in April with Nine Canadian Stops

In 2012 the Trek Dirt Series enters its twelfth season of growing the sport of mountain biking by developing skills and confidence through their instructional weekend camps located in the sport’s most popular destinations.

The program offers an unparalleled coaching staff including professionals from the sports, health, and wellness industries completely focused on building skills and fostering fun. To date, the program has helped more than 7,500 riders experience more fun on the trails.

Founded in 2001 by Candace Shadley of Whistler, British Columbia, the Dirt Series travels throughout western North America, with the goal of developing riders through a supportive, step-by-step process that helps each participant realize a greater level of confidence to discover the fun of mountain biking. Of the eighteen planned stops across some of mountain biking’s most storied destinations, sixteen are scheduled as women’s-only events while two will be co-ed.

Camps are open to beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders. Participants are divided into small groups based on abilities and interests so that every rider will have the opportunity to improve their riding skills while having a fantastic time in the process. The small groups also allow riders to focus on cross-country, downhill, or freeride skills, based on their interest.

“Not only will you become a better rider, but you’ll leave your Trek Dirt Series camp with new friends to ride with and the confidence to continue improving your skills on your own,” said former Trek Dirt Series camper Lacy Kemp. “The coaches teach you how to read trails and select lines while providing you with the tools to ensure that your riding will be more fun.”
