The CHCH National Cycling Centre Hamilton has appointed people to key positions as part of its strategy for continued growth and development of the Youth & Junior Programs.
Head Coach, Rick Lee said “2012 has kicked off with the appointment of a number of key personnel to head up key areas of our growth and development, we are extremely pleased with the people we have been able to attract, they have the skills, desire, experience, and commitment to take the Centre to a new level.
In the past years, due to lack of numbers in the program, the Centre relied on very hard working individuals to do all the tasks. In 2011 and 2012 we have been developing a team of very professional people that are committed to the Philosophy of the program and share in the workload, and if one member of the team is not here or leaves, we can still continue to operate”.
The appointments made are;
Schools Tri-Cycle Program:
Mr Chris Gray - Coordinator of the program for 2012.
Mr Jan Pearson - Schools Liaison Officer {Head of Physical Education at Sir Winston Churchill}.
Both Chris & Jan have been working very hard to get our name out there to the Schools, and we have been overwhelmed with the number of schools that want the Tri-Cycle Program at their schools. We believe the Schools Program strategy will produce an additional 60 riders to take up competitive Youth Cycling in 2012 .
MTB Program:
Team CHCH has new MTB coaches, whose key role is to develop the MTB program at the CHCH National Cycling Centre Hamilton.
“One of our goals in 2012 is to grow the numbers and depth of our MTB program, and we believe this will be achieved by the appointment of two very qualified people to head up the program.
Chris Kiriakopoulos & Phil Chung have been recruited and joined TEAM CHCH recently, Chris needs no introduction, he has worked in the area of Junior MTB development and Event Promotion for years in the Hamilton region.
Phil Chung has held a number of Varsity positions in the area of MTB Skills development and is an avid MTB rider. Both Chris and Phil are School Teachers with the Hamilton Wentworth District Schools Board and as such have the teaching skills and desire to develop a top class MTB Program.
In addition to the above appointments we have recently conducted an in-house CI Coaching Course, which now brings our total number of CI Coaches to 20, so we have the Coaches to service the demand of our growing membership.”
2012 will be a very busy year for TEAM CHCH. If you are interested in becoming involved as a rider, volunteer, coach, ride leader, sponsor or supporter, contact the CHCH National Cycling Centre at info@ncch.ca.
