Canadian Cyclist has learned that the Canadian Cycling Association will institute a GPS-enabled whereabouts program for Junior-aged riders on national team projects. The program is an add-on to power metre system that the CCA has been working on, that will enable coaching staff to monitor training and performance levels of national team athletes in one, standardized program, explained national mountain bike coach Dan Proulx in an exclusive interview (below).
As they were developing the proprietory system, the CCA realized that it could be GPS-enabled and "it made sense to incorporate this feature for the Junior-aged riders, who are under CCA supervision on national team projects. Parents are asking for this," explained Proulx.
Proulx says the system will be used as early as this spring for projects during the pilot phase.
