Today is Individual Time Trial (ITT) day at Road Nationals in Lac Megantic, QC.
The Elite and U23 women go off at 10 am for 30 km's, 2 laps (1=out and back) of 7.5 km. There are 29 entries and they will go off at 1 min intervals until the final 5 riders, when the gap will increase to 2 min. The last rider of the day will be Clara Hughes, the defending champion who goes off at 11:30am ET. Start list with times
In the U23 and Elite men's field there are 63 entries and they will go off at 1 min intervals until the final 5 entries when the gap will increase to 2 min. The men will start at 1:01 pm ET and they will do 39 km 3 laps (1=out and back) of 6.5 km. Start list with times
The road is a brand new bypass recently build,..3 and 4 lanes of newly paved surface that will be completely closed to all traffic.
There is a strong tail/cross wind on the way out and the climb is small enough that the Elite men and maybe even the top women will be "big ringing" it.
It is going to be a HOT day!!!
We will do our BEST to do updates, but Rob will be out on course doing photos and cell coverage is spotty.
11:46 am: Hughes 30 sec up on Rhae haw at 3/4 way into lap 1
11:59 am: Jasmin Glaesser caught her 3 min man midway into lap 2
12:pm: Hughes was 1 min up on Shaw 1/3 way into lap 2
12:05pm: Hughes 35 sec behind Shaw
