Tour of Romandie
Stage 4, 163.9 km Champagne to Leysin
Festina rider Joseba Beloki lost the leader's jersey at the Tour of Romandie but put up a fight to remain in contact with new race leader Paolo Savoldelli (Saeco-Valli&Valli). Beloki, who was isolated in the stage's closing kilometres, finished 13th on the stage, losing 22 seconds to sixth place finisher Paolo Savoldelli (Seaco-Valli&Valli). Savoldelli now retakes the leader's jersey that he lost to Beloki yesterday. Beloki remains in touch only 12 seconds behind Savoldelli on GC.
The mountain-top finish and also other climbs during the days stage provided the defining moments of the stage. Andrea Noe (Mapei-Quick Step) escaped with less than 5 km to go and crossed the finish line alone in 4 hrs 35 mins 35 secs.
The race finishes tomorrow in Geneve.
