Back for a second year, the Firemen's Park Cross now spans two days of racing on Saturday, 24 November, and Sunday, 25 November, in Firemen's Park, Niagara Falls. Saturday will see a citizen race with categories to suit everyone from first time crossers to elite racers. Sunday's race is the final race in the S-Cup series, and should prove to be very exciting. Both courses are new this year, using a different area of the park from last year, with has ample parking, washrooms, a playground and dog park.
Starting and finishing on a gravel access road, the courses utilize the park’s many features, including fields, lightly wooded areas and an amphitheatre cut into the side of the Niagara Escarpment. Although there is minimal elevation change, there will be ample technical challenge.
Check out this >video showing what Sunday’s course should look like. Saturday will be similar but with some changes to various sections to keep things interesting.
Medals, cash and merchandise prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each category. See the Tech Guide for more information. Coffee and other hot beverages will be available free to racers and spectators as it lasts.
A full schedule of events and technical guide can be found at www.nancweb.com/cxfever/firemens.
Pre-registration is available online at www.ontariocycling.org and closes at noon on Thurday, 22 November. Day-of registration will beavailable (cash only).
