The Barrie Cycling club is hosting their annual Baseball Cyclocross race this coming November 4, at the Barrie Sports Complex. Going on their 6th year on the Ontario cyclocross circuit the Barrie Cycling club was awarded the distinction of the Provincial Championships.

The Baseball cross, known for its course which snakes it way around baseball diamonds and soccer fields, promises to be a challenge for all riders.
For 2012, course designers promise a slightly longer course, more twists and turns plus more speed with one of the longest straight-away starts the club has had. “We have one of the longest straight-away starts we have ever had, which will really be a leg buster” said Barrie Cycling club race co-ordinator Shane Hollingshead
“We want to really make our first provincials memorable, We are also making our famous hill (mound) climb harder.”
The Barrie Cycling club, in partnership with the City of Barrie has built and designed the premiere event of the season.
“Going on its third year at the Barrie Sports Complex, the Baseball cross is preparing to be one of the premiere events of 2012's cyclocross season” said Robb Meier, President of the Barrie Cycling club.
“The Provincials Baseball cross is going to a race to remember, we are promising a spectator friendly course, great parking access, a live DJ, expo area and fire pit” Meier added.
“We are looking forward to seeing the best in Ontario come out and duke it out for the provincial championships on our course.”
There will be a cash purse for Senior Men and Senior Women along with great prizes and starting this year the coveted Baseball cross world series trophy. There will also be a youth race, ages 10-14 where a lucky youth will have the chance to win a 2012 Specialized Crux 46cm donated by Specialized.
Cost of the event is $35 pre-registered, and $50 day of registration for all categories other than Junior and Under 17. For these categories the cost is $30 pre-registered and $40 day of event. All riders are encouraged to pre-register, through the OCA website.
