Two members of British Columbia's Mid Island Velo Association (MIVA) were honoured at the 2012 Nanaimo Athletic Achievement Awards this Saturday (February 9th). National master women cyclo-cross champion Janna Gillick was recognised as the city's outstanding master athlete, and club president Peter McCaffery received the award for outstanding sports' administrator. A third cyclist who won the best male athlete plaque was international downhill champion, Steve Smith.
