The men are lining up to start, the field is just 81 starters
They will do 8 laps of the 3.8 km course, no start loop
Hajfel will host the 2014 World Championships
There are NO Canadian men on the start line today. Michael Broderick is the ONLY American
Julien Absalon (BMC Mountainbike Racing Team) is absent, he is suffering from broken ribs as is Lukas Flückiger (BMC Mountainbike Racing Team)

Nino Schurter (Scott Swisspower MTB Racing Team) and Fabian Giger (Giant Pro XC Team) get the holeshot as they head up the climb
Schurter leading through the woods with Daniel Mcconnell (Trek Factory Racing) on his wheel
Jaroslav Kulhavy (Specialized Racing XC) is sitting 3rd folowed by Marco Aurelio Fontana (Cannondale Factory Racing)
