Track racing continues this Saturday night at the Forest City Velodrome in London Ontario.
Madison racing takes centre stage with 6 teams doing battle in the 6 day format event. The evening will feature 2 Madison's, Sprints, Scratch Race and Miss & Out for the Madison teams. "The racing will be intense and exciting from the first whistle", said Bob Schelstreate, one of the announcers for the event. Schelstreate indicated, "that a couple of riders will be coming from Detroit for the competition, which will keep the locals on their toes".
Madison racing at the FCV has been on every race program in the 8 year history of the track. The 2 1/2 hour program is tight and moves along very quickly. The 6 day program is fast and exciting, we have used this format before and it brings out the best in all the racers.
Madison racing started at Madison Square Gardens in the late 1800's.... the premise of the race is 2 riders per team and they make exchanges to place each other into the race. The team who covers the most laps and gains the most points is the winner at the end of the event.... This weekends racing will not want to be missed.
There is also racing for Non-Madison riders. In addition, the Future Stars (Youth Racers) will also be strutting their stuff during the evening.
Racing starts at 7pm on Saturday October 26th, general adult admission is $10.00, Seniors $5.00, and Kids are always FREE.
