The UCI has released the bid guide for hosting a Cyclo-cross World Cup in the 2014-2015 season. The deadline for applications is December 1, 2013. The bid guide can be downloaded Here.
What is interesting is that the UCI reserves sponsor exclusivity and marketing rights across a huge number of product and service categories, leaving few opportunities for an organizer to recoup costs this way. As well as the costs of producing the event, prizes (50,000 Euros-plus), etc., the organizer has to provide free of charge to the UCI a high definition, multi-camera TV production and a 'fully redundant' satellite uplink, with the UCI being the exclusive owner of worldwide broadcast rights. The UCI estimates costs in the region of 100,000 Euros ($135,000), before TV production (which could cost as much again).
One other point of interest - the Continental Championships are scheduled for the same weekend as the Canadian Nationals...
