Team H&R Block is pleased to announce the addition of Luca Segato as Team Manager for the upcoming season. Luca will bring a wealth of international cycling experience to the 2014 squad.
Born in Motta di Livenza, Italy, Luca came to Canada at the age of 7 where he began his cycling career. Competing for Canada, Luca's career highlights include the 1987 Junior World Championships, member of the 1988 Olympic Games Team and the 1989 World Championships Team. Luca's success on the International stage and racing for a team in Belgium earned him a spot on the 1999 Nutra-Fig Pro Cycling team competing out of the USA. Segato capped off his career by competing for Brazil Racing from 2003-2005 before retiring from the sport.
As a savvy rider, Luca will add valuable experience to the 2014 squad. His experience competing at the Olympic level will provide the riders with the necessary guidance required to elevate their performance as they take part in NRC and UCI races across North America this season.
Team Director Mark Ernsting notes: "The team welcomes Luca and looks forward to having him lead the riders at the races. As Team H&R Block continues to grow, it is important that the team continues to build its foundation and we are doing this with the addition of someone as capable as Luca."
For Luca, this is an exciting opportunity to get back involved in the sport he loves. "My passion is cycling and being associated with a team that has a high performance platform and strives for excellence", says Segato. Over the last four years, Team H&R Block has grown strategically and positioned themselves as one of Canada's Elite U23 men's development programs.
