Canadian BMXer Tory Nyhaug of Coquitlam, BC, finished fifth of the opening BMX Time Trial World Cup of 2014, the top Canadian of the event.

Nyhaug raced in the SuperFinals with an automatic entry, and posted a time of 29.313 seconds to take fifth place.

"It went pretty well. I felt strong in practice and I wanted to be on the podium," said Nyhaug, who boasts five podium performances in Time Trial SuperFinals and two in Supercross Finals throughout his career. "I had a pretty good lap, but ended up getting fifth. I'll take it, and looking forward to racing tomorrow."

Local star Liam Phillips of Great Britain won the race, stopping the clock at 28.942 seconds. Among Canadian BMXers present, James Palmer of North Vancouver, BC, also qualified for the SuperCross World Cup, finishing 44th in the qualifying rounds.

Corey Walsh of Ayr, ON, suffered minor injuries as results of a crash in the qualifying rounds, while Jimmy Brown of Airdrie, AB, did not race as a result of injuries in sustained in training while in Manchester.
