Canada's Max Plaxton (Cannondale Factory Team) will miss the World Cup cross-country in Cairns, Australia, this Sunday, as he continues recovery from a crash he suffered at the Bonelli short track race last month.  Although he was on the start list for both Pietermaritzburg and Cairns, he will have missed both opening rounds.

By e-mail from Victoria, Max explained:  "I haven't been racing lately cause after a crash in the Bonelli short track I tweaked my knee pretty good and had to take time off to rehab it with my team here in Victoria. So I've just been focusing on that and I'm pretty excited. It's feeling really good and [I'm] super motivated for the Euro World Cups."

"I'll go over and do an HC race in Germany the weekend prior to Nove e mesto [Round 3 in the Czech Republic]. Could be a good thing though not doing the first two; gotta look on the bright side, I'll be fresh that's for sure."

"Hope the racing is good down under, I'll be watching."
