Ontario's only elite stage race returns for a third consecutive year in the town and surrounding areas of Mississippi Mills. Back are the two challenging road race stages, and the super technical criterium course in the quaint town of Almonte. However this year's race adds an additional challenge as teams will have to negotiate a 36km team time trial - an event that will favour the teams that can harness their horsepower in the most cohesive manner over this rarely contested discipline.
There will be at least 11 teams on the start line for this year's event - headlined by the Silbur Pro Cycling team as they prepare for their debut appearance at the tour of Alberta. Captained by former National Champion Ryan Roth and supported by Ottawa locals Matteo Dal-Cin and Derrick St. John they are likely the favorites, but will face tough challenges from the Lacombe-Devinci, Octto, Veloselect, Nine2Five and Stevens squads. The Steven's team will see the return to racing of National Team member Alex Cataford in his first race since being hit by a car in Arizona this spring.
The host team Ride with Rendall will also be looking to take advantage of home ice, and are captained by 2009 National Champion and perennial strong man Aaron Fillion.
With the support of Mississippi Mills Bicycle Month, all races will take place in the town and surrounding areas of Mississippi Mills:
Aug 15 - 5pm - Blakeney Circuit Race (Stage race only)
Aug 16 - 8am onwards - Clayton Time Trial or Team Time Trial for Stage Race
Aug 16 - 3:15pm - Almonte Criterium
Aug 17 - 10am - Pakenham Road Race
Individuals interested in competing in the event should contact the organizers to be placed on a composite team at ridewithrendall@gmail.com.
Omnium Events:
While the full stage race is just for elite men, M1 Masters and Juniors there will also be an Omnium available for all other categories. Racers can self select between the A and B fields and compete over the Saturday and Sunday courses but do not have to race all three.
