Dutch rider Annefleur Kalvenhaar, a member of the Focus XC Team, died this morning from injuries suffered in a crash during qualifying at the Eliminator World Cup in Méribel, France, on Friday.  The 20 year old Kalvenhaar landed headfirst when she crashed in qualifying.  She was immediately transferred by helicopter to the ICU at Grenoble Hospital.

UCI President Brian Cookson said "I'm devastated to hear that the cycling family has lost one of its members at such a young age. Our deepest thoughts are with her family and friends".

During the Final on Friday evening, other competitors rode with Kalvenhaar's named taped to their helmets and bikes.

Our condolences, along with the rest of the cycling community, go to Annefleur's family and team mates.
