Canadian Cyclist Weekend It is almost time for the CC MTB Weekend at Rocky Crest Resort in the Muskokas. Last year we had a blast, riding the trails (both day and night), chatting with fellow cyclists and eating gourmet meals at this resort about 2 hours north of Toronto. For novices, our Tech Editor and his partner (literally) wrote the manual on learning to mountain bike. For the experienced rider, it is a chance to try out some new trails and pump us for info on the `98 product lines (we usually have some samples with us that you can try). For everyone it is a chance to finish off the season in style. A weekend for you and your partner (including meals and a condo of your own) is $369 ($286 for a single). For more info, contact Rocky Crest at 1-800-263-5763. Hope to see you there! Ontario `Cross Next week's race (October 19) is in Etobicoke at West Deane Park on Martingrove near Rathburn. There will be a citizen's mtb race at 11:00 a.m. and 'cross at noon. For information call Peter McCaffrey at (905) 271-8300. More UCI Road Rankings Junior Men (after Worlds) 1 HIECKMANN, Torsten GER 208 points 2 KESSLER, Matthias GER 192 3 WERNER, Christian GER 150 4 GÜTTINGER, Sandro SUI 147 5 BOLT, Martin SUI 138 6 VAN DER KOOIJ, Vincent NED 106 7 D'AMORE Crescenzo ITA 100 8 DE WAARD, Bram NED 95 9 KIVICHEV, Eduard RUS 88 10 KAISER, Robert GER 72 You will notice that there are no Canadians - the only non-European event (Tour de l‚Abitibi) was delisted because enough countries did not participate - meaning the Euros would not leave Europe! For a sport that UCI is trying to make more international, this seems to be a backwards move, n‚est pas?
