Once again, the Ottawa cycling community is gathering to help support up-and-coming local talent, and we'd love for you to be part of this event.

Please join us in support of the National Capital Region Cycling Bursary and The Cyclery-Opus women's racing team on January 17th to kick off the 2015 season in style.

Olympic commentator Randy Ferguson will be back to emcee an evening that includes dinner, Olympic medallist Tara Whitten as key note speaker, and celebrating the people who have had an impact on the local cycling scene.

Among the highlights of the evening will be:

• Key note speech from Tara Whitten, a cycling Olympic medallist and 3-time World Champion with a new Ottawa connection;
• The 2015 recipients of the Seenite Sports National Capital Region Cycling Bursary;
• The inaugural Cycling Celebration Awards: Categories include, Peter Tyler Builder of the Year, Alan Large Race Organiser of the Year, Gord Fraser Male Athlete of the Year, Linda Jackson Female Athlete of the Year, and Coach of the Year;
• An update on the Ottawa Velodrome Project.

Part of the proceeds will go towards helping the The Cyclery-Opus women's team travel to B.C. for Super Week in July. The rest will go to the Seenite Sports National Capital Region Cycling Bursary, which has raised more than $35,000 to support local cyclists.

Silent Auction items include:

• Signed pro-jerseys from some of Canada's top professionals, including Rob Britton, The Canada Team from Tour of Alberta, and Ottawa's own Mike Woods and Matteo Dal-Cin;
• Kids Summer Camp Weeks;
• Chelsea Chocolate Truffles Basket;

• A Ski with Tara Whitten;
• A ride in the Cyclery-Opus Team Car for the Gatineau UCI Races.

We look forward to celebrating the upcoming cycling season with you!

The team's racing and mentorship program is designed to help young athletes expand their horizons and develop into seasoned bike racers. The goal is to help them graduate to the national team and the professional ranks, making room for the next generation of hopefuls. For more information, visit the team website Here.
