The Rasputitsa Spring Classic is on April 11th, 2015. With a field limit of 500 riders, this 45 mile unsanctioned gravel road race covers some of the most cold and barren landscapes of Vermont. The 2015 race will take place in Burke, Vermont (less than an hour from the Canadian border) and we have partnered with Kingdom Trails (though the race takes place on neighboring backroads and not on the trail system).
In cooperation with Olympian Lyne Bessette, this race is part of the Can-Am Gravel Battle Series. This consists of three gravel road races (Rasputitsa, Dirty 40 Race, and Besette's 100b7) designed for all cyclists. Participation of the Rasputitsa is 50% American and 50% Canadian, so it really challenges all riders to show their national pride.
The Rasputitsa Spring Classic was recently on the gravel bucket list by Cyclocross Magazine. It unites riders of all abilities and disciplines, and includes road, cyclocross, singlespeed, tandem, and mountain bikes, as well as a fat bike category new for 2015. The epic section known as Cyberia, where participants shoulder their bikes, will take place on Kingdom Trails and is yet to be revealed, but is highly anticipated by former participants.
Registration is $50 until February 1st at www.bikereg.com/rasputitsa.
