On Saturday, May 30th, the Barrie/Simcoe Cycling Club is proud to host Ontario's first ever all-inclusive cycling celebration, Pedal Fest.
Embarking on our 6th Annual Youth Race, part of the Ontario Youth Cup Series, the Barrie/Simcoe Cycling Club is pleased to now offer a more inclusive and spectator friendly event - Pedal Fest. This will be an all day festival, including the classic Youth Cup stage race geared for boys & girls ages 10-16, featuring a Time Trial and Road Race. New for 2015, the club is including a Para-Cycling road race and criterium style road race, open to all other Ontario Cycling sanctioned categories.
In between the Youth Cup, and Para-Cycling races, we are inviting all members of the community to come out and walk, roll, or wheel around the race course with Paralympic Gold Medallist Graeme Murray!
"The goal of this festival is to be inclusive to all riders. The Barrie/Simcoe Cycling Club hopes to kick off Bike Month with a celebration and encourage riders of all abilities to come out, get on a bike and have fun," explains Robb Meier, race creator.
We have a fantastic course (Map), with wide corners and completely traffic FREE! "It features one punchy climb to the finish, and some wide open flat sections. It measures a quick 1.7km in length, with wide, safe corners all the way around," says Adam Pugsley, race organizer.
Live music will be playing throughout the day, concluding with a surprise headliner following the final race of the day. And there will be over $3,500.00 in cash prizes.
Registration is now open. If you are interested in participating in Pedal Fest, please visit www.pedalfest.ca.
