Forms Problems If you have tried to send us a Classified, Link or Subscription request for the last days, by filling out one of our online forms, you will have noticed that it never appeared on our pages. We have discovered a gremlin in the web server that seems to be taking the above submissions and sending them...into limbo. We are working on it, but, for now, you are going to have to send everything to us by e-mail (ccyclist@rogers.wave.ca). For those of you who have sent us stuff in the past week (we think this is when the problem started...), please resubmit by e-mail. HansenWorld? We think it may be time to rename the Forum to „Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About the Hansens‰. If you have been following this thread, you will find that the Hansen clan has now been traced back to approximately 500 B.C. (please, no Before Hansen jokes...). We aren‚t sure where this is going, but, guaranteed, it‚s going to get ugly... `Cross Nationals The website for the Cyclo-cross Nationals is now up - just click on the logo at the top of our front page. You can register online, get the race schedule, send mail to your favourite Hansen (just kidding)... Also, for French readers: we know about some of the translation problems with directions, etc. - we are fixing that now. Interbike Dates We neglected to mention the new dates for the Interbike trade show next fall, when we announced the Canadian (BTAC) show dates earlier this week. Interbike West has moved from Anaheim to Las Vegas, and will take place September 11-14. This puts it in direct conflict with the Canadian show, to be held September 13-16. It also, unfortunately, conflicts with the Mountain Bike Worlds (September 14-20). Come August next year, the standard industry question is going to be: „So, where are you going to be in September?‰ Pan Am News From Manitoba (courtesy Manitoba Cycling Association) The Recreation and Transportation Committee of the MCA, has obtained funding from the MCA, to conduct a feasibility study for alternative forms of transportation to all or some of the Pan Am Games venues for visitors. If the feasibility study is successful in attracting further funding for specific projects, MCA would continue to oversee the projects. Partners in this endeavor would likely include the Pan Am Transportation Committee, Manitoba Sport and Fitness, the City of Winnipeg (subcommittee on cycling), Environment Canada and private enterprise. The feasibility study would be prepared by a consultant working with the Rec and Trans Committee and other partners. It would evaluate the Pan Am sites and feasible alternative forms of transportation to each, take into consideration the existing Winnipeg Bicycle Plan and provide a description of the types of projects that could be undertaken dependant upon levels of funding. The study might decide to concentrate on a few venues or tackle all of them. With regard to cyclists, safe to the events, route maps, secure lockup areas and incentives not to use cars (allowing bikes to park at the site entrance while cars park much further away) would form part of the plan. Also mentioned as incentives for those who left their cars at home were "prizes"drawn daily from those who used the bike park or took buses. The project can provide a legacy after the Pan Am games in the form of improved cycling facilities for recreational and commuting cyclists in the province. The committee needs help in reaching its objectives.
