April 19/16 21:12 pm - Ottawa Tuesday Crit Series to Start in May (Ontario)

Posted by Editoress on 04/19/16

Ottawa's Tuesday night bike race series is set to start its 2016 season on May 3rd. The Tuesday night criterium series that has helped develop so many successful Ottawa-area cyclists will be back in 2016.

Ross Knight, who has run the event for more than two decades, is stepping down - but not before passing the torch to a new group of organizers, led by Vince Caceres.

This year's race series was tentatively scheduled to start on April 19th, but the NRC has not yet signed off on the permit to use the roads on the Montreal Rd. campus, so the new start date for the series will be May 3rd.

The opening event of the season will be a "B" race for developing riders, in order for the Tuesday night between the Preston Street Criterium and the Canadian Road Championships (June 21st) to be an "A" race that out-of-town riders can attend.

The "A" and "B" events will continue until September 27th.

For the full schedule, and news on the Tuesday Night Series, please visit the Series website.

Anyone who signed up to volunteer on April 19th or 26th, please contact Nicholas Vipond at tuesdaynightcrits@gmail.com; to choose another Tuesday evening.
