Race the Ridge is pleased to announce that the new home for its April 29th Time Trial course will be on Barnston Island. A short 5-minute ferry ride will take you to this idyllic rural island, which lies in the middle of the Fraser River and offers a 9 km flat, paved road which circumnavigates its perimeter. The island is home to a handful of large farms, a Metro Vancouver Park and the Katzie First Nations. The ferry landing is only minutes from Highway 1 and the North Perimeter Road.

"I am very excited to have secured Barnston Island as a Time Trial location for the 2016 edition of Race the Ridge," says Barry Lyster. "As an organizer, I am always looking for new and unique places to host bike races. When you include this race alongside the Hatzic Valley Road Race and the Maple Ridge Town Core Criterium, I believe it is the strongest line-up of courses offered in the 15-year history of Race the Ridge."

Race the Ridge will be run as an Omnium, or as individual races, with the majority of prize purse going to the Omnium. Full tech guide will be available Thursday, April 21st.

Race the Ridge would like to thank its' supporters: Local Ride Racing, Epoch Analytical, Power2Max, Code Sport, TaG Cycling, Cycles Lambert, Born Superior Sports Care, Katzie First Nation, City of Maple Ridge and Cycling BC.

Registration is still open, and closes at 6 pm on April 27th. For course maps, race details and to register, please go to http://www.localride.ca.
