Cycling BC AGM
Cycling BC held it's annual general meeting at it's Vancouver offices on Sunday October 1/2000. Elections were held, membership fees set and some very important bylaw changes were voted upon.
The enthusiastic group of CBC members that attended the meeting voted unanimously to accept eight bylaw resolutions which change the nature of Cycling BC from a "do-all"organization to one that specializes in bicycle racing only. In the words of CBC President Wayne Pomario, "These changes are necessary in order for cycling BC to make the most effective use of our dwindling resources and to provide the best possible service to our members." He also pointed out that the areas of cycling that we are moving away from are already well serviced by several other BC groups.
The AGM also voted for a modest increase in licence fees and an equalization of the cost for a new membership compared to a returning racer. All one discipline race licences will now cost $100 with all early bird discounts remaining intact. For example a junior member purchasing a licence before December 31 would pay only $80. Basic insured membership and officials licences have gone up by $5.
The board positions that were filled were all done by acclamation and those people are:
President - Wayne Pomario
VP Road and Track - Dave Schnieder
Treasurer - Alan Linsley
And the new position of VP regional affairs - John Tolkamp
Congratulations to the newly elected board and thanks to the Cycling BC members that came out.
