New Women's Hour Record

It appears that Australian Anna Wilson (who races for Saturn) has set a new world hour record for women. It will take a while to become official, but the main confusion stems from the change in UCI rules over what is the actual record.

The UCI this year revised the technical bike requirements for a record attempt - going back to the early 70's (a la Eddy Merckx). So, the record for women is a little hazy (what was the last record set on an acceptable bike?). The best estimate (which the UCI seems to agree with) is that Cornelia Van Oosten-Hage (Ned) set a record of 43.082929 kilometres in 1978 (set in Munich on September 16th). Wilson was well above this at 43.5 kilometres for the hour. The record was set in Melbourne, Australia.
